Xiola™ is a game that tests your memory skills. The game makes random sounds on different buttons of your game board. The game boards consist of 3 to 9 buttons. The object of the game is to repeat the same sequence of the randomly generated sounds. The game was mainly created for little kids that begin to explore their young minds. However, even adults might find it challenging. Hope you enjoy playing Xiola™ as much as I enjoyed making it.
Xiola™ 2.5 System Requirements:
A color monitor with 256 colors, color QuickDraw, a screen resolution of at least 640x480 pixels, System 7.0 or newer and at least 2MB of free RAM. This version is now fully compatible with PowerMacs.
Changes and/or Updates:
Xiola™ 2.5 - 11/95. Fixed a bug that was crashing PowerMacs. Version 2.0.1 which fixes the bug was never released. Instead, I decided to add more features to the program. I added a new menu, the "Transitions" menu lets you set or use transitions when you switch from game to game. The transitions include fades to black, several screen effects, a "Random" options that randomly picks bettween the fades and the effects and a "No Transitions" options that allows instant transitions. A preferences file is also new. The preference file is automatically created for you when you start the game; when you finish, all of your custom settings will be saved in the preferences file. i.g. Background pattern, show/hide score, level, etc.
Xiola™ 2.0.1 - 9/95. Never released.
Xiola™ 2.0 - 6/95. Completely rebuilt, added six new games (3 buttons...9 buttons), background pattern can be changed now, game is a full screen with status indicators i.g. how many sounds are playing, level, chances left, etc. I implemented a score tracking system, which leads us to....of course a Hall of Fame for the 10 best scores. Speed, Level and Game can be choose through menus. Lastly, a cheat feature was added to help you on when there are just too many sounds. Overall...a good six months of hard work. Enjoy.
Xiola 1.1 - 1/95. I redrew the buttons to make them look more like real push buttons in 3-D (hope it worked for you). I fixed a bug that was causing the game to go crazy when the starting level was set to greater than 25 and/or the increase more than 5 and of course both less than one. It wasn't really a bug, I just had to do some input error checking there.
Xiola 1.0 - First released version 12/94.
